Gaspahr wins Grand Prix Opglabbeek!

2 May 2021

After a few months of achieving good results, today everything fell into place: the first Grand Prix victory of Giampiero Garofalo and the stallion Gaspahr is a fact! Under the Italian flag, the KWPN approved Berlin son jumped two wonderful clear rounds and thus won the main number of the CSI2* at Sentower Park in Opglabbeek.

Last autumn Giampiero Garofalo took over the reins of Gaspahr (Berlin x Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve) from the Stal Hendrix rider Pieter Keunen, who trained him up to 1.45/1.50m level. To give the now ten-year-old stallion all the chances as an international showjumper, he moved to the stables of Giampiero and his girlfriend Lisa Nooren, and this year he is only available through frozen semen. That seems to have been the right decision because today, at the beginning of the outdoor season, Gaspahr left all competition behind in the well occupied Grand Prix of CSI2* Opglabbeek. Of the 60 participants, nine combinations qualified for the jump-off and four of them were able to jump another clear round, including Giampiero and Gaspahr in the fastest time.
