Bustique offspring crowned as GCL Horse of the Year

17 November 2023

For years, Bustique has had a fantastically performing offspring in Beauville Z, born from his first crop. Under Maikel van der Vleuten, the horse bred by Pascal Habets has achieved numerous successes, including bronze at the Olympic Games and World Equestrian Games. This week, he added the title of GCL Horse of the Year in Prague.

Beauville Z was bred in 2010 by Pascal and Monique Habets, and six years later, he came into the hands of Gabriela Roger Ibars through the auction of Holger Hetzel. On the recommendation of Eric van der Vleuten, son Maikel took over the reins of the Bustique son in early 2018. After a promising start, he was acquired by Maikel’s sponsor Marta Ortega PĂ©rez. A year and a half later, they already made their breakthrough at the five-star level.

Highly consistent
Among the major sporting successes, in addition to the medals in Tokyo and Herning, are victories in various Nations Cup competitions, Grand Prixs in Cannes, Monte Carlo, Ommen, and the World Cup competition in La Coruna. Beauville Z has had an exceptional GCL season, including two victories for the Madrid in Motion team, five podium finishes, and a fault rate of 69.2%, with an average of only 1.2 penalty points per round. In Prague, Beauville Z was rewarded for his highly consistent performances with the title of GCL Horse of the Year.
