DSHS celebrates quality and global trust

1 October 2025

For more than two decades, the Dutch Sport Horse Sales has proven its distinctive character, and tonight that reputation was reaffirmed at the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre. With an average price of over €220,000 and a top price of €470,000 for the Diamant de Semilly daughter Djoka, the 21st edition will be remembered as a resounding success.

All 17 horses in the auction were sold, with ten of them heading to the United States. That is a remarkable outcome given the current international economic climate. The quality consistently delivered by the Hendrix family, however, remains a certainty, and that was rewarded once again this evening. The auction achieved nearly the highest average price in its history.

Quality and trust
The majority of the horses were purchased by loyal clients. “Twenty-one years ago we were one of the first auctions in the Netherlands, and today auctions take place almost daily. I can only speak for ourselves, and I am proud that with this fantastic collection we once again succeeded in selling every single horse tonight,” said Paul Hendrix. “The new generation of our family is now taking the lead, and they are doing so in an excellent way. Our concept remains unchanged: each year we aim to present our very best five-, six-, and seven-year-olds in the Dutch Sport Horse Sales. Nothing confirms our work more than the trust of returning clients. Most of these horses were purchased through trainers we have been working with for many years.” In addition to the ten horses bound for the United States of America, others will soon be making their way to Great Britain, Germany, Finland, and Belgium. The auction topper Djoka, a seven-year-old daughter of Diamant de Semilly, was sold to Swedish owners. “And one of our very first clients also made a new purchase tonight: our friend Ian Millar.” The celebrated Canadian invested in New Jersey HX, a son of Jacadello bred by Stal Hendrix itself, together with former World Champion Gail Greenough.

High average
Highlights included Big Romance VH Z (s.Big Star), sold to California for €360,000, and Unicorn de Boerendans (s.Cornet Obolensky), who was purchased for the same price by German owners. The six-year-old B.Orly-Else Z (s.Brunetti Z) also exceeded €300,000. Remarkably, every horse sold for over €100,000, that is a first in the auction’s history. The evening concluded with a €15,000 donation to Uryadi’s Village.
